Every year, beginning on October 1, the ICD-10 Code Set and Guidelines are updated.   For 2024, there are 395 new diagnosis codes, 25 deletions and 13 revisions. In addition, there are numerous updates to the tabular instructions.

As every year since ICD-10 began, many of the changes are for further specificity. Many diagnoses that had to be put in the “other” categories of codes, now are expanded for that specificity.  Examples: Sepsis, Parkinson’s disease, Osteoporosis with fractures, hypertensive chronic kidney disease to name a few.

There are many new codes in the external cause - V and W chapters – including more specificities on accidents and injuries.  There are additions to Z codes as well.

October 11 is not too late to hear this important webinar. This is the time when you will be seeing rejections on your submitted claims due to the code set changes!   And remember that coding guidelines MUST be followed, therefore, this session is so important in order to comply.

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand the new and revised 2024 ICD-10 code set effective October 1, 2023
  • Identify the new coding guidelines
  • Understand the exclude 1 and 2, code first, code also, manifestation/etiology codes, etc
  • Know the 395 new diagnosis codes, as well as deletions and revisions
  • Teach the new coding changes to clinical managers, QAPI staff, coders and clinicians.
