Achieve PDGM Efficiencies with Your Billing & Coding Team

    Webinar

    Tuesday, February 4, 2020

    10:00 am –  11:30 am CST **

    ** Recording available through 2/18/20

Your agency is about to send its first batch of claims under the new PDGM system. Are your billers and coders working together? They need to be!

Under PDGM it is even more important for billing and clinical departments to work as a team.  The 30-day billing periods will create an increased workload for billers along with added complexities for the PDGM claim requirements. Together, this will likely mean a cash flow slow down.

In this webinar, participants will discover how to gain efficiencies in the revenue cycle to combat the negative consequences of the changeover to PDGM.  It is important that billers have the necessary tools to function effectively under PDGM.  Webinar resources will include all the recent transmittals for billing and clinical updates.  It is also essential that Home Health Agencies have policies to support coding & billing operations for defensible documentation for an audit.  Join us and learn what new policies are necessary under PDGM to support payment and compliance.  Our presenter will also include Test Your Knowledge coding scenarios to illustrate PDGM issues and best practice tips for avoiding questionable diagnoses.

    Objectives:

    • Describe two efficiencies to improve the revenue cycle
    • Discuss areas where billing & clinical will work as a team to gain efficiencies
    • Examine what is needed for defensible documentation
    • Review required policies for PDGM billing & coding operations

Audience:  This is a necessary topic for Billers, Revenue Cycle Team, Coders, QAPI Reviewers, and Compliance. Recording available through Feb 18, 2020.

Presenter:  Joan Usher, BS, RHIA, HCS-D, ACE, President, JLU Health Record Systems is a nationally recognized expert in coding and medical record documentation. She has a degree in Health Information Management and has been a home health consultant for over 30 years. Joan is past president of the Massachusetts Health Information Management Association (MaHIMA) and has served as a delegate for American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).  She received the Distinguished Member award from MaHIMA in 2017 and the Professional Achievement Award in 2008.  Joan is a published author with book topics such as ICD-10-CM Coding, Billing for Home Health & Hospice, Clinical Documentation Improvement and contributing author to the Massachusetts Medico Legal Guide. Usher is a past member of the Board of Directors of the Home Care Alliance of MA and serves on the Hospice & Palliative Care Federation of MA as a Director. Joan's webinars consistently earn outstanding reviews from participants.
