Every October 1st, the newly updated ICD-10 codes are in effect - although they say the upcoming calendar year!  That is October 1, 2022 starts the 2023 codes.

Although we have been using ICD-10 with all of its complexities and specificities for many years now, each year more codes are added, deleted, or revised.  It is important for hospice and home health agencies to keep up to date!

This year there are 1,147 New Codes. Many new and revised codes are to make the codes more specific each year - meaning 1 code could be deleted for a diagnosis and 6 new codes are now in use for the same diagnosis!

This year Dementia has many code changes with severity levels and separate types of symptoms.  Most chapters have multiple changes, so don’t miss this informative webinar.

This webinar will go over all of the code updates and convention / guideline changes to the ICD-10 code set for 2023, effective on Oct 1, 2022.  It is important that you understand all changes, additions and revisions as soon as possible, as ‘old’ codes will be rejected when you submit them.

Objectives:

Participants will:

  1. Have an understanding of the 2023 updates for all of the Chapters in ICD-10
  2. Have learned the changes to the coding guidelines
  3. Understand in detail the dementia severity level and codes for additional symptoms
  4. Be reminded of what conventions, guidelines, excludes 1 and 2 notes mean
  5. Know what documents to utilize from CMS to see 2023 guidelines, tabular codes and table of new codes (handouts will be given)
